Oil of the Week: Ginger

The oil of the week this week is ginger!

Ginger (Zingiber officinalis) essential oil is made from the steam distillation of the ginger rhizome. A rhizome is the swollen area above the roots of the plant. It is a woodsy, spicy, fresh smelling mid note oil.

Physically, ginger is widely known to help with nausea and indigestion. It is helpful because ginger contains two enzymes, protease and lipase, which aid in digestion and relief of nausea, gas, and bloating. It is also used for sinus and chest congestion and irritation.

Emotionally, ginger is grounding as is the energy of the week with Archangel Ariel who helps us stand our ground with peace and balance. Ginger also helps sharpen our senses while bring peace and warmth to very tense and cold emotions.

Energetically, ginger balances all the chakras as well as it is known in India to awaken agni, our divine and inner fire complementing lion's gate this week!
